Local charity lottery players can still hit the jackpot – even if their numbers don’t come out of the hat.
The St Giles Hospice Lottery, which raises funds to help the hospice care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses, is once again issuing its popular Discount Card to players.
The latest cards, being distributed this month exclusively to those taking part in the lottery, earn the holder a discount - usually 10% - at more than 100 shops and outlets across the region.
Participating companies come from across the hospice’s patient catchment area and include restaurants, garden centres, fashion stores and jewellers, as well as top tourist attraction, Drayton Manor Theme Park.
One newcomer to the initiative this year is the national Alliance Pharmacy Group, including branches in selected Waitrose Stores.
Richard Simmonite, St Giles Hospice Promotions’ Commercial Manager, said: “Our lottery players are tremendously compassionate people, and show they care each and every week through their continued generosity.
“The Discount Card is our way of saying thank you for their invaluable support – and they shouldn’t be shy about using it.
“Not only will they save money - without costing the hospice a penny – the Discount Card also helps to spreads the St Giles name and encourages other people to sign up to the lottery and retailers to take part in the scheme.”
The St Giles Hospice Lottery gives away over £3000 in prizes every week – with one lucky winner scooping a £2000 jackpot.
Taking part costs £1 per week and the exclusive Discount Card is just one of the benefits. All players signing up for a full year in advance also receive a limited edition St Giles Hospice teddy bear to thank them for their support.
Further information on joining the St Giles Hospice Lottery is available by calling 0845 370 65 80 or visiting www.stgileshospice.com/lottery.
The St Giles Hospice Lottery is the most successful of its kind anywhere in the UK and plays a vital role in funding the care offered by the registered charity, based between Lichfield and Tamworth.
Last year the weekly draw raised £1million - a fifth of the amount St Giles spends every year on providing high-quality medical and nursing care for local people with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as support for their families and carers.
Patients are either cared for at the hospice, or in their own homes, where the catchment area ranges from Ashby de la Zouch and Atherstone in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west – and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.
