Last Chance for Ladies to Join 1,000-Strong 'Cast' of St Giles Midsummer Night's Dream!

Walkers enjoying last year’s St Giles Hospice Solstice WalkSome 1,000 fairies are set to stroll the streets on Solstice night for an incredible St Giles Hospice fundraiser – and now’s the last chance for ladies to join the Lichfield event.

The second St Giles Solstice Walk takes place on the night of 21st/22nd June and takes the theme of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, with fairy wings and wands among the costumes set to be worn by entrants.

The 10-mile walk around the streets and parks of Lichfield is open to women from across the region.

Sarah Shelton, Community Fundraiser for St Giles Hospice, says: “Our first Solstice Walk saw over 400 women take part and raise in excess of £50,000. This year we hope to double that amount, providing even more vital funds for the care of people with cancer and other serious illnesses in our community.

“With the success of last summer’s walk and such a lovely theme planned for this year’s event, we are seeing teams of women from offices, groups of friends and individuals all signing up to take part.

“The remaining places will be snapped up fast, so we’re urging anyone who would like to play a part of this momentous event to contact us today.”

Entry forms are available by contacting the Fundraising Office on 01543 432538, visiting stgileshospice.com/solsticewalk or emailing sarah.shelton@st-giles-hospice.org.uk.

Places are £14 per walker and everyone who signs up will receive a Solstice Walk sponsorship pack, which includes a map of the route and details of how they can raise sponsorship money.

St Giles Hospice is a registered charity offering high-quality medical and nursing care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and carers.

Patients come from across the hospice’s catchment area, which ranges from Ashby de la Zouch and Atherstone in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west – and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.

Care is offered at the hospice's facilities in Sutton Coldfield and Whittington between Lichfield and Tamworth, or in patients' own homes across the region.

St Giles spends over £5.5 million every year providing its specialist services and with less than a third of this funded by the Government, relies heavily on donations and fundraising.
