St Giles Hospice’s charity shop in Walsall is celebrating twenty years of selling a wide range of bargains by moving to a stylish new location.
The store left its former home on Freer Street in August and is re-opening on Monday 29th October at a brand new outlet in the town centre’s Victorian Arcade.
Lynwen Truesdale, General Manager of St Giles Hospice Shops, says: “When space in the arcade became vacant we saw it as the perfect opportunity to put all our wonderful quality household items and clothing in a handy location for our customers, right in the heart of Walsall’s shopping centre.
“It’s a fantastic way to celebrate 20 years of successful fundraising in the town, and to give our loyal customers a fresh new look to mark the beginning of the next 20!”
Volunteers and staff will be celebrating the new move and twentieth year with a glass of bucks fizz.
The Walsall shop sells a wide range of high-quality second-hand items including products for the home, clothes, accessories and books, as well as a selection of new goods, including greeting cards throughout the year, and the hospice’s range of Christmas cards which are now available.
Donations of items that can be sold are always welcome, and further information is available by contacting the shop on 01922 720922
St Giles Hospice Shops play a vital role in funding the care offered by the hospice, a registered charity offering high-quality medical and nursing care for people with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and carers.
The fourteen shops are based in major towns throughout the hospice's patient catchment area, which ranges from Ashby de la Zouch and Atherstone in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west – and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.
In addition, a clothing warehouse for donations and a furniture warehouse offering a wide range of high-quality furniture at value-for-money prices, are based in Shenstone, near Lichfield. A selection of furniture is also available at the Cannock and Wylde Green shops.
Last year the hospice shops raised a total of £525,000 - and every penny is desperately needed by St Giles. The charity spends over £5million caring for local people with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and carers, and relies heavily on the support of local people to enable its valuable work to continue.
