People across the region will be waving their Discount Cards with pride as St Giles Hospice Lottery issues its new money-saving cards to players.

The Discount Cards are distributed to the 32,000 players who take part in the St Giles Hospice Lottery, which raises funds to help the hospice care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.

By using the card, players are entitled to an instant discount at more than 100 shops and outlets across the area – typically 10% - at no cost to the hospice.

Richard Simmonite, St Giles Hospice Promotions’ Commercial Manager, said: “We have a number of exciting new businesses participating this year, so we’re urging our players to carry their cards with pride and make the most of their special discounts.

“We are extremely grateful to our lottery players who help care for local people each and every week through their continued generosity and the Discount Card is our way of saying thank you for their invaluable support.”

Participating companies come from across the hospice’s patient catchment area and include restaurants, fashion stores, florists, garden centres, hair salons, food stores and furniture outlets.

The St Giles Hospice Lottery gives away over £3000 in prizes every week – with one lucky winner scooping a £2000 jackpot.

Taking part costs £1 per week and the exclusive Discount Card is just one of the benefits. All players signing up for a full year in advance also receive a limited edition St Giles Hospice Bear to thank them for their support.

For five consecutive years the St Giles Hospice Lottery has raise more than £1 million, with every penny going towards caring for people with cancer and other serious illnesses.

It is one of the most successful hospice lotteries of its kind anywhere in the UK and plays a vital role in funding the registered charity. St Giles Hospice cares for people at its facilities in Sutton Coldfield and Whittington, Lichfield and in patients' own homes across the catchment area. This ranges from Ashby de la Zouch in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west – and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.
