Aldridge Charity Shop Celebrates Tenth Birthday

St Giles Hospice’s shop in Aldridge is celebrating a decade of bringing local people brilliant bargains, quality clothes and handy homeware.

The special birthday party is being held at the shop at 35 The Square on Tuesday 24th June, with volunteers and staff cutting a birthday cake.

Lynwen Truesdale, Director of St Giles Hospice Shops, said: “Ten years on, our Aldridge shop is still proving popular with local shoppers. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has purchased products and donated items to sell over the past decade.

“Today St Giles operates a total of fifteen shops - including two dedicated book shops - which play a vital role helping to raise funds to care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.

“Last year the hospice shops raised over £500,000 – with every penny going towards caring for local people and supporting their families and carers.”

The Aldridge shop offers a wide range of high-quality second-hand items including products for the home, clothes, accessories and books, as well as a selection of new goods, including greeting cards throughout the year.

Donations of items that can be sold are always welcome. Further information is available by contacting the shop on 01922 744319.

St Giles Hospice Shops play a vital role in funding the care offered by the hospice at its facilities in Sutton Coldfield and Whittington between Lichfield and Tamworth, or in patients' own homes across the region.

The fifteen hospice shops are based in major towns throughout the hospice's patient catchment area, which ranges from Ashby de la Zouch and Atherstone in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west – and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.

In addition, a clothing warehouse for donations and a furniture warehouse offering a wide range of high-quality furniture at value-for-money prices, are based in Shenstone, near Lichfield. A selection of furniture is also available at the Cannock and Wylde Green shops.

Donations of high-quality clothing and items for the home are always welcome at the shops and warehouses.

St Giles Hospice spends over £5.5million caring for local people with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and carers, and relies heavily on the support of local people to enable its valuable work to continue.
