Shoppers are being urged to support the latest specialist store to open
for business in Lichfield - and help leading local charities at the same
time.
The Midlands Charities Association Christmas Card Shop, located at the
Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum in Breadmarket Street, is offering a
vast selection of festive greetings cards from a host of worthy causes
all working to aid the relief of human suffering.
Participants include local charity St Giles Hospice, which cares for local
people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.
The shop, which has been organised by St Giles, is staffed by volunteers
and an estimated 99% of proceeds from the sale of the cards will go to
the charities taking part.
Lynwen Truesdale, General Manager of St Giles Hospice Shops, commented:
“Christmas is traditionally the time for thinking of others –
family, friends, and those less fortunate than ourselves.
“By buying cards from The Midlands Charities Association Christmas
Card Shop people will be making a valuable contribution to worthy causes
working for the benefit of the local community.”
The shop was officially opened today (Tuesday 18th October) by Mayor of
Lichfield Councillor Norma Bacon and will remain open seven days a week
from 12noon to 4.30pm until 15th December.
