Rugeley Charity Shop Celebrates Fifteenth Birthday

St Giles Hospice Shop in RugeleySt Giles Hospice’s fundraising charity shop in Rugeley is celebrating its fifteenth year of loyal service to local shoppers.

The shop at 4 Upper Brook Street is still going strong and continuing to prove extremely popular with members of the public.

A special birthday party is being held to celebrate the anniversary, where volunteers will officially cut the birthday cake which will then be shared among fellow volunteers and staff.

Lynwen Truesdale, Director of St Giles Hospice Shops, said: “Our Rugeley shop is still a huge hit with local shoppers and we are extremely grateful to everyone who has purchased products and donated items to sell over the past fifteen years.

“Today St Giles operates a total of fourteen shops - including two dedicated book shops - which play a vital role helping to raise funds to care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.

“Last year the shops generated over half a million pounds and, with demands on St Giles’ caring services continuing to increase, every penny is greatly appreciated and desperately needed.”

The Rugeley shop has a wide range of high-quality second-hand items including products for the home, a small selection of furniture, clothes, accessories and books, as well as a selection of new goods, including greeting cards throughout the year, and the hospice’s range of Christmas cards which are now available.

Donations of items that can be sold are always welcome and there is parking for donations of goods at the rear of the shop. Further information is available by contacting the shop on 01889 576816.

St Giles Hospice Shops play a vital role in funding the care offered by the hospice at its facilities in Sutton Coldfield and Whittington near Lichfield, or in patients' own homes across the region.

The fourteen hospice shops are based in major towns throughout the hospice's patient catchment area, which ranges from Ashby de la Zouch and Atherstone in the east, to Cannock and Walsall in the west – and from Burton and Uttoxeter in the north, to Sutton Coldfield and Coleshill in the south.

In addition, a clothing warehouse for donations and a furniture warehouse offering a wide range of high-quality furniture at value-for-money prices, are based in Shenstone, near Lichfield. A selection of furniture is also available at the Cannock and Wylde Green shops.

Donations of high-quality clothing and items for the home are always welcome at the shops and warehouses.

St Giles Hospice spends over £5million caring for local people with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as providing support for their families and carers, and relies heavily on the support of local people to enable its valuable work to continue.
