Volunteers undertake a huge variety of tasks, including:
- Helping with activities and chatting to patients in the Day Hospice
- Driving patients to the Day Hospice and Lymphoedema Clinic, and delivering equipment to patients' homes
- Arranging flowers for patients, as well as in the reception area and chapel
- Helping to tend to the hospice garden and grounds
- Assisting with secretarial and clerical work
- Undertaking domestic tasks - from cleaning to helping in the hospice kitchen and laundry
- Greeting visitors at reception and answering telephone calls
Some specially trained volunteers also help with nursing, bereavement visiting, and providing complementary therapies.
Volunteers also give their time in the hospice's network of charity shops. Further details on shop volunteers.
New volunteers are always welcome in all these roles and more - whether they are able to help for 2 hours each week or 20.
