St
Giles has a team of 17 Clinical Nurse Specialists working in the community,
caring for those living at home with cancer or other serious illnesses.
All are Registered Nurses with
additional training in this specialist field.
They work closely with other
health professionals, agencies and local community services to ensure
the highest quality care for patients, and support for their families.
Nurses provide:
- assistance with symptom control
- psychological support for patients and their carers
- advice regarding basic financial benefits
- loans of a small selection of equipment, and
- information about other community services
Each year the team makes over
7,000 visits to patients in their own homes across St Giles' catchment
area.
If you feel that the services
offered by the Community Team may be of benefit to you, or are a health
