Nineteen intrepid runners from a Lichfield company are calling on other firms to hit the streets for St Giles Hospice at this month’s Great Birmingham Run.
The team from Wincanton for Screwfix, in Fradley Park, will be taking on the popular 13.1-mile half-marathon through the centre of Birmingham on Sunday, 13th October.
They will be lacing up their running shoes to raise much-needed funds for St Giles Hospice, the firm’s nominated charity.
Wincanton for Screwfix Training Manager, Gez Prendergast, said: “St Giles Hospice is a charity that is very close to the hearts of our staff as many people know someone who has been supported by the hospice in the past and you never know when your loved ones may need their help.
“We’re looking forward to taking up this challenge and running a half marathon through Birmingham and would urge other businesses to join us in supporting this great local cause.”
Sally Insley, Community & Corporate Fundraising Manager at St Giles Hospice, said: “We are delighted to hear that Wincanton will be joining Team St Giles at the Great Birmingham Run this October.
“We are truly grateful for the ongoing support of Wincanton, from welcoming our volunteers for a special lunch last December through to hosting a sponsored cycle earlier this year. It’s wonderful to see how Wincanton continues to champion St Giles Hospice.”
She added that people could find out more about St Giles Hospice, which cares for local people and their families living with a potentially incurable illness, by visiting the charity’s marquee in the Charity Village at the Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run 2019.
“St Giles spends more than £10m each year caring for local people and their families and only around a third of this is funded by the Government so we are very grateful to all of our corporate sponsors and individual fundraisers,” Sally added.
“If anybody would like to sign up for a fundraising event or choose us as their charity for 2020 we would be delighted to hear from them.”
