Summer school

Exploring a career in care with our summer school.

Our summer school gives students aged 16 to 18 the opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to work in the care sector in a wide range of career paths including nursing, medicine, health care assistants, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

It runs for five days over three weeks, including a work experience placement in the hospice. There are 15 places available offered on completion of an application form and an interview.

All the staff teaching on the summer school are qualified to teach as well as being practitioners within the care profession.

Any student aged 16 to 18 who is interested in finding out more about careers in the care profession. Careers include nursing & midwifery, medicine, health care assistants, physiotherapy, occupational therapy

The summer school involves five full days from 9.30am to 4pm at St Giles Hospice Education Department, Whittington.

The taught dates are between 1st and 3rd of July, then a half day placement between 4th and 12th July and a further teaching day on 15th July.
