Many of our shops have now re-opened and we have really loved welcoming customers back through our doors.
The health and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, supporters and donors remains our priority and our team is working hard to ensure we maintain a COVID-safe environment. The safety measures we have put in place have made the shopping and donating experience slightly different to normal. Please help us to help you during this unprecedented time and follow these safety measures detailed below.

Shopping with us
As with many retailers, there is a slightly different shopping experience in our shops. The following steps have been taken for the safety of all shoppers, donors, staff and volunteers. We very much appreciate your support and understanding as we make things as safe as possible for everyone.
All of our shops are adhering to social distancing measures. There is a limit on the number of people allowed into our shops at any one same time, to allow us to maintain social distancing. We are also encouraging payment by card.
Hand sanitiser stations are located at entrance/exit points for customers to utilise and intensive cleaning programmes are in place at all our shops.
Availability of stock
We are working to ensure we have fully stocked shops so that you have an enjoyable shopping experience, as you would have done prior to our shop closures. We ask that you avoid touching/handling stock you don’t intend to buy.
Fitting rooms closed
Fitting rooms will be closed but please be assured that a full refund policy will be in place for any items you wish to return. Returned items will then be quarantined for a further 72 hours.
Donating to us
Your donations are incredibly welcome and we are so grateful to you for hanging on to them during lockdown. Your donations of quality items mean that our support for local patients and their families – when they need it most – can continue. However, as we try to maintain the quarantine guidelines, we ask that you please follow the steps listed below. Thank you.
We ask that you call ahead to your local shop or our distribution centre before making a special visit to drop off donations. Storage space is limited, so we may have to sadly decline donations so that we can maintain the quarantine guidelines and the health and safety of our staff and volunteers.
Contactless donation stations
Our shops and distribution centre are operating contactless donation stations. Full guidance of how to use these is available on-site. There is more information about the type of items we can and can’t accept here.
Please make sure your donation is in a bag or box – unfortunately we will be unable to return the bag or box.
If you are a St Giles retail Gift Aider, to help us identify your donations, we would be really grateful if you could write your name, donor ID and postcode onto paper or labels and attach this to both the inside and outside of each bag or box.
Double check before you donate
We anticipate being very busy initially, and so we will need to accept donations in a very controlled manner. One thing you can do before donating is take a look at our checklists below to ensure we can receive your quality saleable items. This will help us save time and cut down on waste, meaning more time and money can go towards supporting patients and their families.
Unfortunately, we continue to be unable to receive donations of furniture, white goods and large electrical items to our shops – though we can collect furniture via our limited collection service. See further details below.

In line with Government guidelines, all donations will be stored for 72 hours before being processed and put on sale in our shops. Our staff and volunteers who will be processing donations will be following strict guidelines of washing hands regularly and/or wearing gloves whilst sorting stock, where necessary.
Distribution Centre, Shenstone
Our distribution centre will be open from Monday 22nd June, 10am-4pm Monday-Friday. Like our shops, we ask that you please call ahead before making your trip to drop off donations – 01543 483266. A contactless donation station will be in place and donations will be stored for 72 before being processed. Please follow the donation guidelines listed above.
Volunteering in our shops
We rely heavily on volunteers to run our shops and look forward to welcoming our workforce back into our shops.
The return of our volunteers will be phased and limited in order to maintain social distancing guidelines. All shop managers will be in contact with volunteers in line with the phased shop re-opening programme.

How our other services are affected
Furniture collection and delivery service
This service will be in operation initially at a reduced capacity in line with Government guidelines. Booking lines are open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 9am-4.30pm or Wednesdays and Saturdays 9am-3.30pm. Bookings can be made by calling 01543 483687.
To maintain social distancing we have implemented the following measures:
- Our drivers will call ahead to give you an expected time of arrival. They will explain the process and ask that you keep a 2m distance while they carry out their task.
- They will ask if you or anyone in your household is showing symptoms of COVID-19. If yes, your collection or delivery will be postponed for a minimum of 14 days.
- Contactless collection or delivery will be made from or to downstairs areas only.
- All drivers will be wearing the correct PPE including face masks and gloves, and will be using hand sanitiser and anti-bacterial wipes.
- To ensure the safety of our customers and teams, we are currently unable to offer a furniture assembly service.
From 17th June, we will be working hard to dispatch all orders placed through our eBay shop during the lockdown period. Thank you for your patience.
