Here’s how your support makes a difference
Matt Morgan has been fundraising ‘his way’ to thank St Giles Hospice for the care his wife Anna received at the hospice in 2021.
Matt said: “The specialist support and care that St Giles provided for Anna and our family was brilliant. Although it was a very distressing time for us all, the hospice did everything they could to help Anna feel comfortable.
“Anna was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 and after a long journey it was deemed ‘not curable’ at the end of 2020 – that’s when St Giles came into the picture. The hospice supported Anna with respite visits, medication control and community care at home.

“Despite the additional challenges that COVID-19 posed, the hospice was so accommodating, and the carers, nurses and sisters were just brilliant. Anna loved life, she was bubbly, outgoing and even when Anna was ill, she was always thinking of her family.
“Anna died at home with me by her side on 22nd May 2021, a day before our wedding anniversary.”
Matt added why it’s so important to get involved in campaigns such as 40 for 40, to ensure our hospice can still be there for families, just like his, when they need us most.
“I chose to fundraise for St Giles because I was so impressed and happy with the care Anna had received. It doesn’t matter how big or small, whatever you do, just do something!
“Ask your friends and family for support – it is about pulling together as a community to celebrate and support this vital facility for local people.”
Thank you so much for supporting ’40 for 40′!
