Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hero Walk has sadly been cancelled
Pull on a cape and show you care at our Hero Walk!
Attention all heroes! Are you ready to be put to the test in 2020? Join us on Saturday 19th September to make memories in a mask at our 5km hero-themed family walk around Walsall Arboretum!
The fun begins at our hero hub, where you’ll enjoy games, refreshments and pose for some super family snaps before setting off on your arboretum adventure. There are awesome activities along the route to test your hero skills to the limit! A hero’s welcome awaits when you cross the finish line to collect your medal having been a true hero for your local hospice.
Full activity and entertainment list for our 2020 Hero Walk will be confirmed shortly, but you can view the 2019 activity sheet here.
Your entry fee includes a hero mask for each participant. If you’d like to take on the challenge in true hero style, St Giles capes can be pre-ordered or purchased on the day for £5. Doggie sidekicks are welcome!
Be a sponsored super hero!
The entry fees only cover the administration cost of the Hero Walk. By asking friends and family to sponsor you, you could raise valuable funds that will help St Giles to continue to provide care and support free of charge to patients and their families.
We’re here for you… because you’re here for us
“The Hero Walk was a celebration of Nan and a way to thank St Giles for the support they gave us.”
For Louise Harding, the Hero Walk was the perfect way to pay tribute to her hero, her Nan, who passed away at St Giles after receiving end-of-life care.
“My Nan got exactly the care she needed at St Giles – one-to-one care tailored to the individual. If she needed anything we just had to call out and people were there straight away.” Louise explained.
Louise put together a team, including three pet dogs, to take on the Hero Walk in memory of her Nan.

“It was really special because everyone was walking for a reason. Everyone had their own superhero in mind, which gave it a real meaning.
“St Giles Hospice is such a valuable resource for the area and we want to raise funds for the future so that St Giles will be there for other families like ours. One day other members of my family might need St Giles and it’s a real comfort to know that it’s there.”
Join Louise in remembering your hero at our Hero Walk, and help us raise vital funds to provide care for local people and their families, living with a terminal illness.
