Light up a Life 2019

Thank you for remembering your loved ones with us this Christmas

Thank you to everyone that made a dedication and attended one of our Light up a Life services in 2019. We hope that by dedicating a light on one of our Christmas trees, writing a message in the Book of Memories and joining us at one of our special services, has provided comfort at what can be a difficult time of year.

Your support of Light up a Life makes a huge difference. Thanks to your support, we are able to continue to provide care and support to local people and their families, living with a potentially terminal illness.

Book of Memories

An online version of our Book of Memories is now available. Please note that whilst all messages are displayed in alphabetical order by surname, those that were received after the dedications deadline are located at the rear of the book in order of receipt.

We’re here for you… because you’re here for us

“Laura always loved to be the centre of things so she’d have been delighted to see us at the service to keep her memory alive and we have a leaf for her on the St Giles Memory Tree. We will certainly keep going to Light up a Life for as long as we can.”

For Kathy Jones and her family, Light up a Life in 2018 provided a moving and very fitting tribute to daughter Laura, who had passed away earlier that year at St Giles.

“It was the first Christmas since Laura died, so as a way to remember Laura and thank St Giles for the way they cared for her, we decided to make a dedication through Light up a Life and attend a service,” said Kathy.

“We were so fortunate to be referred to St Giles during Laura’s cancer diagnosis and her end of life care. I don’t know what we would have done without them. It was such a relief to us all. Everybody was so kind, from the volunteer tea lady to the people in charge.

“It’s good to have an opportunity for people to come together to remember their loved ones. My husband and I went along to the service and Laura’s father came up from Bristol to be with us. It was very emotional but very fitting and I’m so glad we took part.

“I’m not a religious person but I found the service, poems and readings very moving.”

Join Kathy in remembering your loved one this Christmas by making a dedication at one of our Light up a Life services.
