The Route

Starting in the heart of Birmingham city centre, the route will wind its way into the picturesque counties of Worcestershire and Herefordshire through rolling countryside, lush green woodlands and quaint towns and villages lined with cheering spectators.

With around 1500 metres of climbing it is a relatively undulating route, however you don’t need to worry about encountering any Alpine-like climbs! For those of you who want to really test the legs, the King & Queen of the Mountains challenge that you’ll encounter 85 miles into the route (there’s no shame in walking this bit!).

If you are worrying you won’t be able to complete the event in time – don’t. The lengthy road closures mean that all riders will have plenty of time to complete the full 100 mile route and we’ll be behind you every step of the way.

“A physically and emotionally challenging event but worth every minute!

For David, Kenny and Clive, last year’s Vélo Birmingham and Midlands provided a perfect way to pay tribute to their late friend and thank St Giles for the support they gave him and his family.

“This was a truly amazing and memorable experience! We all grew up in Birmingham and returned to ride in memory of a great friend and to raise money and support St Giles Hospice who took such great care of him and his family in his final days.

“The Vélo Birmingham & Midlands was unlike anything we’d done before, the cheering from the supporters was amazing, as was seeing parts of the Midlands countryside seldom visited before!

“The St Giles Fundraising Team were absolutely fantastic! Extremely helpful, supportive and very much a big part of the experience. We met some great people and made some friends along the way.

“It was a great day on two wheels raising money for a great cause, we’ll be back next year! Our only wish is our friend could ride it with us but he’s forever in our hearts.”

Join David and the team by raising funds for St Giles and help us to support local people and their families living with a terminal illness.
