Christmas day may not yet be upon us, but thoughts might already be turning to how to dispose of your tree – and St Giles Hospice has the answer.

The St Giles Hospice TreeCycle sees hundreds of volunteers collect trees from a range of postcodes across South Staffordshire and the West Midlands, in return for a donation to the charity. The trees will then get recycled, making it a really simple way for local residents to get rid of their festive firs.

Ahead of the annual event, St Giles is also looking for more volunteers – with or without a van, to join them during the TreeCycle week between Saturday 7th January 2023 and Friday 13th January 2023.

Zoe Wright, Events and Project Manager at St Giles Hospice, said: “Our TreeCycle service continues to grow in popularity and solves the annual problem of what to do with your tree after the festive period.

“Even those of us who love having a real tree at Christmas must admit it does cause a bit of a mess when it’s time to get rid of it, and I certainly dread that part!

“Our tree-mendous team will collect your tree and recycle it, all for a donation to a really worthwhile cause. Last year our TreeCycle raised over £68,000 to fund care for local people, which is truly amazing!

“We’d like to extend our thanks to Greener Composting, Wincanton Screwfix and Lichfield Tree Works – without their support the TreeCycle simply wouldn’t be possible.”

By booking your TreeCycle and making a donation, you’ll help St Giles to continue to be there for local people, and their families, living with a terminal illness.
