St Giles Hospice will be celebrating Hospice Care Week 2019 with a visit to Walsall town centre in October to highlight the work it does in supporting the community.

Staff from St Giles, which has a palliative care centre in Goscote Lane, will be spreading the word about the services they provide and raising funds in High Street, Walsall on Thursday, 10th October.

People will be given the opportunity to find out about hospice activities and sign up for fundraising events, and bucket collectors will be out and about hoping to persuade generous shoppers to contribute towards the £10m St Giles Hospice needs each year to support local people and their families living with a potentially-incurable illness.

Elinor Eustace, Director of Fundraising at St Giles Hospice, said: “Hospice UK’s Hospice Care Week, running between 7th-13th October is a great opportunity for us to shout out about the wonderful work done by St Giles and more than 200 other hospices across the UK to support families in their local community.

“Around a third of our funding comes from Government and the rest is provided by our fundraisers, sponsors and donors, so Hospice Care Week gives us an opportunity to both thank and encourage our fundraisers and to let people know more about the services we provide – and we do more than you think!

“So please come along to find out more, sign up for one of our fun fundraising events or make a donation to our big bucket shake so that we can continue to support the people of Walsall when they need us most.”
