Taking a compassionate community approach to palliative and end of life care is not just something that takes place outside clinical contact. It is embedded into the heart of it. This means that clinicians have to find ways of developing their practice, in direct contact with patients and families, to include this new dimension of ways of helping people.
This free workshop is aimed at front line practitioners and is only available to those healthcare professionals working for a Staffordshire based healthcare organisation.
This session will be facilitated by Dr Julian Abel
Julian spent his clinical life as a palliative care specialist doctor. He has developed a special interest in compassionate communities, initially as part of supporting people undergoing experiences of death, dying, loss & care giving. Over the last 4 years he has worked with Frome Medical Practice applying the compassionate community approach to healthcare in general, with some startling results. He is Director of Compassionate Communities UK, a charity which aims to share the lessons learnt in both palliative care and primary care more broadly.
