Thank you for taking part in Make Your Will Month
Thank you to our participating solicitors who provided their time and expertise, and to all of our supporters who made or updated their will in return for a donation during October’s Make Your Will Month.
If you missed our Make Your Will Month and don’t want to wait until our next event, then please get in touch and we can put you in contact with one of our participating solicitors who would still be happy to support your will writing and advise you of their charges. Please consider leaving a gift in your will to St Giles Hospice – even a 1% gift will make a difference.
Your support matters. Thank you.
Make Your Will Month will be returning in October 2023.
During Make Your Will Month, you can choose to have your will written by one of our participating solicitors in return for a suggested donation.
100% of your donation is used to fund care for local people and their families.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why do I need a will?
By making your will and keeping it up to date, you can make sure that your affairs are in order and that your estate is dealt with as you would wish, creating peace of mind for those you leave behind.
Can’t I just make my own will?
Trying to make your own will, without legal assistance, can lead to mistakes or lack of clarity and could mean that your will is invalid. If you have a number of beneficiaries and your finances are complicated, it’s even more important that you get a professionally trained solicitor to create your will. This makes it easier for your loved ones following your death
How much does it normally cost for legal assistance?
It will typically cost anywhere between £150 – £250 for a straightforward single will and even more for a mirror will.

Leave a legacy that makes a real difference
St Giles Hospice provides care for local people, and their families, living with terminal illness. It costs over £10 million to provide our care each year, which we can only do with your support.
Graham Eyres, pictured right, has left a legacy in his will to thank the hospice for looking after his partner Lyn.
“I can’t think of a better way to support the hospice or a cause that could be more worthy. No matter how large or small your gift, it will make a real difference. My support is very personal, but everybody knows somebody who will one day need end of life care.”
Please consider leaving a gift in your will for St Giles. It will help us continue to provide our vital care services to people in your local community. Find out more about legacy giving here.
Leave a legacy that really matters. Thank you so much.
