Hundreds of Cyclists Raise Funds for St Giles Hospice at Cycle Autumn Event

29 September 2026

Hundreds of enthusiastic cyclists took to the roads on Sunday 27th September, using their pedal power to help raise funds for St Giles Hospice at their annual Cycle Autumn event.

St Giles’ Whittington site was a hub of activity on the day of the event, as cyclists began and finished their routes from the hospice, where care is provided for local people, and their loved ones, living with a terminal illness.

Over 300 riders signed up to take part in one of three brand new routes for Autumn 2026; 25, 50 or 100 miles. The selection of different routes ensured that riders of varying ages and abilities were welcome.

Each route offered riders a chance to take in rural views, whilst cycling through beautiful parts of the Staffordshire countryside.

In total participants cycled nearly 18,000 miles to raise vital funds for local people and their loved ones.

Sam Colclough, Events Manager at St Giles Hospice, said: “Our Cycle events are a fantastic way for people to support St Giles and raise vital funds for local people, and their loved ones, living with a terminal illness. It’s a fantastic feeling to cycle in the company of others with a shared goal, and there’s nothing quite like crossing the finish line with all those cycling miles under your belt!

“It’s so inspiring to see how many people from across the region turn up to cycle and raise sponsorship for their local hospice, as well as to enjoy the event on the day. I’d like to thank everyone who joined us on Sunday, including our incredible team of volunteers who ensured the day ran smoothly, as well as our local community who came to cheer our cyclists on.”
