The Board of Trustees at St Giles Hospice announce that, after three years as Chair of Trustees, Robin Vickers has decided to step aside and allow for fresh leadership to guide the organisation forward.
We are delighted to announce that Sally Bedford will be taking on the role from January 2025. Sally brings a wealth of experience, is an existing Trustee, former NHS Director, and lives locally in Barton.
Robin will be working closely with Sally to ensure the smooth transition of the Chair of Trustees role at St Giles.
St Giles has undergone a significant Transformation Programme over the last few months and is now well-positioned to continue delivering high-quality care, whilst planning for a sustainable future.
Robin said ‘With the organisation now in a stronger place, this is a great moment to welcome new perspectives and innovative thinking. The challenges of recent months and years have required tough decisions, but we can now explore creative opportunities to engage more deeply with our community and develop approaches that support growth and sustainability. Fresh leadership, coupled with Elinor’s Eustace’s appointment as our substantive Chief Executive Officer, sets the stage for an exciting new chapter for St Giles.
‘I am delighted that Sally has agreed to take on the role of Chair of Trustees. She brings extensive experience, a deep connection to our local community, and a strong commitment to St Giles. I am confident Sally will provide outstanding leadership as the organisation moves forward, and I am grateful for her energy and dedication throughout this transition process.
‘For my part, I will formally step down in January, but I will always remain a friend of St Giles and will be available to support in any way I can. The work that St Giles does is incredible, and I’ve been inspired time and again by the stories of those we help. This organisation is truly remarkable, and I have every confidence it will continue to thrive.’
Everyone at St Giles Hospice thanks Robin for his leadership and wishes him all the best for the future.
