St Giles Hospice Marketing and Communications Team Shortlisted for Prestigious National Social Media Award

Staffordshire hospice recognised alongside major brands for excellence in social media marketing.

A creative team of marketers at a hospice in Staffordshire have been recognised for their hard work after being shortlisted for the Social Media Marketing Awards 2025.

St Giles Hospice has been named a finalist in the highly competitive ‘In-House Social Media Team of the Year’ category, standing alongside household names including ITV Soaps, Met Office, National Highways, and Tata Consultancy Services.

The nomination recognises the hospice’s outstanding social media campaigns that have helped raise awareness of end of life care services whilst engaging with the local community across South Staffordshire, North Birmingham and surrounding areas.

The Social Media Marketing Awards, which returned this year after several years’ break, celebrate creativity, strategy, and impact across social media platforms. With hundreds of entries received, the competition was fierce, making St Giles Hospice’s shortlisting particularly significant for the charity sector.

Natalie Lewis, Head of Marketing and Strategic Communications at St Giles Hospice, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be in the running with such big names and are so proud that our team has been recognised. It’s been a tough year for the hospice and our team has been working so hard on vital marketing and communications work that directly supports our income generation and raises awareness of our services to reach more people who need our care. I’m incredibly proud of our team for being nominated – they truly deserve it. We can’t wait to see what happens on the night.”

The recognition comes during a challenging period for St Giles Hospice, which last year was forced to reduce bed capacity from 23 to 15 beds and implement 22 staff redundancies due to financial pressures facing the hospice sector nationally. Despite these challenges, the Marketing and Communications team has continued to deliver impactful campaigns that support the hospice’s mission to provide specialist palliative and end of life care.

SocialDay Founder Lucy Hall commented on the awards’ return: “The Social Media Marketing Awards were created to draw attention to the brilliant marketers and teams driving real impact across social platforms. The response this year has been phenomenal – the creativity, strategy, and results on display are nothing short of inspiring.”

The awards ceremony will take place on 15th October aboard a boat on the River Thames in London, where winners across multiple categories will be announced by an esteemed panel of judges. With tickets costing £350 plus VAT per person, or £1,500 plus VAT for a group of five, the hospice is seeking sponsors to help support the team’s attendance at this prestigious event.

St Giles Hospice spends close to £10 million a year providing specialist services, with less than a quarter funded by the Government. The charity relies heavily on donations and income generation from the local community to continue delivering vital care to patients and their loved ones.
