St Giles Hospice pulls out all the stops as Tamworth couple get married

25 June 2026

A Tamworth couple have married at St Giles Hospice surrounded by close family, friends and staff.

The celebration saw Ian and Lisa Brookes exchange their vows after hospice staff helped organise the special event. Ian is currently receiving specialist care on the Inpatient Unit at the hospice’s Whittington site.

The special occasion was coordinated by teams across the hospice, with colleagues working together to ensure every detail was carefully planned and detailed. The Inpatient Unit and Family Support and wellbeing teams ensured that Ian remained comfortable throughout the day.

From preparing the venue, to providing catering and capturing lasting memories, colleagues from multiple departments played a vital role in making the celebration a success.

The hospice gave a special mention to local businesses who supported on the day, including Coton House Farm Wedding Venue who loaned some chairs and decor for the ceremony, Flower Design of Lichfield who donated floral arrangements, and Champneys Spa who donated a gift for the bride.

Leon Ratcliffe, Director of Clinical Services at St Giles Hospice, said: “Moments like this are a perfect example of what makes hospice care so special. Ian and Lisa’s wedding was a truly special occasion and a wonderful example of what can be achieved when our teams come together. We are incredibly proud to have helped Ian and Lisa celebrate such a milestone, and we thank every colleague, volunteer and local business who contributed to making the day so memorable for the couple and their loved ones.”
