Summer school

Exploring a career in care: Summer School at St Giles Hospice.

Our summer school gives students aged 16 to 18 the opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to work in the care sector in a wide range of career paths. Careers could include nursing & midwifery, medicine, healthcare assistants, and a range of Allied Health Professions such as physiotherapy, radiography, and occupational therapy.

The programme includes classroom sessions and practical experiences within the hospice at Whittington. There are 15 places available offered on completion of an application form and an interview. There is a large focus on the qualities and skills required within healthcare careers for example empathy, communication and team work.

All the staff teaching on the summer school are qualified to teach as well as being practitioners within the care profession.
